The mission of the LREDA Board is to serve our members by:
• strengthening alliances and collegial relationships;
• educating congregations about best practices; and,
• creating structures that better support our evolving organization.
The 2010-2011 Board includes:
Anne completed fourteen years as Director of Lifespan Religious Education for the First Unitarian Society in Newton, Massachusetts in June, 2009. With a passion for learning, and for growing our Unitarian Universalist faith, she will join the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock as Intern Minister for the 2009-2010 year. She has been active in District and conference events for many years, and is also presently on the Board of Skinner House Books.
Katy has been doing religious education work for seven years and is currently the Director of Religious Education at the Unitarian Fellowship of Houston, Texas. She is pursuing credentialing, twin sons, and the perfect pizza crust recipe.
Gabrielle Farrell is Director of Religious Education Ministries at All Souls Church, Unitarian, in Washington, DC finishing her eighth year there. Previously she served the First Unitarian Church of St. Louis, Missouri, for eleven years as its religious educator. Gabrielle has been instrumental in enhancing LREDA chapters and has served on various LREDA committees, including the 21st Century Fund and the Nominating Committee. She has a special interest in curriculum work, and has authored online curricula for the UUA's Tapestry of Faith program as well as others. Her newest passion is introducing and cementing multigenerational living and learning in our congregations.
Natalie has been a professional religious educator for 12 years in three Unitarian Universalist congregations, and is currently Director of Religious Exploration at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax in Oakton, VA. She is a Credentialed Religious Educator, Master Level, and has a Master's of Divinity. She is a LREDA Good Officer for the Joseph Priestley District and has served on the LREDA Nominating Committee and 21st Century Fund. At the denominational level, she is currently a member of the UUA's Journey Toward Wholeness Transformation Committee. Natalie is a Tapestry of Faith author and a Renaissance Module leader. She and her family have been members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockville, Maryland for 28 years.
Jennifer Halperin serves as the Director of Ministries with Children and Youth at First Unitarian Church Pittsburgh. She also serves as co-Chair of the Ohio Meadville District Lifespan Faith Development Committee. She served as DRE for a small congregation and for the past 10 years at First Unitarian, which is currently a larger mid-sized congregation. Jennifer currently serves on the LREDA Board as Treasurer, and will finish her term June 30, 2011.
Lynn Hunt has served First Unitarian Church of St. Louis as the Religious Educator for eight years. Previously she served the Ethical Society of St. Louis in the religious education program for thirteen years. Lynn was raised a Unitarian and was active in LRY. As a young parent, she taught Sunday School, was a member of the RE Committee and a youth group advisor. She later developed curricula, took on District work in various capacities, and became a LREDA Good Officer. She has served on LREDA committees, is a mentor for the Credentialing program, and became a Credentialed religious educator in April 2008.
Pat Kahn is a Credentialed Religious Educator who has served as Director of Religious Education at the UU Congregation of Atlanta since 1999. She serves as Recorder/Treasurer of the Southeast chapter of the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA) and has served on the LREDA Integrity Team. She is a Good Officer for the Southeast Chapter and has served on the MidSouth District RE Committee and Board. In the Atlanta community, Pat serves on the Board of Trustees of the Interfaith Disability Network.
Ruth is starting her 19th year as a religious educator. She serves First Church in Boston, an urban congregation in downtown Boston. A large part of her work there involves adult programming as the congregation has relatively few children, but Ruth has also served the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, NJ, a suburban congregation with many families. She was a Good Officer in Metro NY for several years before moving to the Mass Bay District. Ruth is currently the convener of the North Atlantic Regional Chapter of LREDA.
